Can Social Media Be Profitable For Small Business?

With so much talk surrounding social media and its benefits for small business, it’s interesting that there is very little discussion on whether social media is actually profitable. I recently, came across the article, “Three Ways To Ensure Your Social Media Efforts Create Profitable Growth“, which highlights three ways social media can create profitable growth and three ways it can’t.
While I found this article insightful, it failed to mention the importance of clearly defining your social media goals in order to measure “profitable growth”. There are so many busineses on Facebook and Twitter that aren’t seeing any benefits because they haven’t established a social media plan. In order to benefit from social media and see a “profit”, small businesses must establish a plan that includes concrete goals, a realistic timeframe and measureable results.

Are you a small business that has found social media to be “profitable”? We want to hear from you, please leave a comment and let us know your experience.
